This past week, on The Parents' Solution, I chatted with Dr. Zakiya Akarele, who is an educator and the author of Dump Your Degree: How To Repurpose Your Education, Control Your Career, And Gain Financial Freedom. She is focused on bringing awareness and practical solutions to students and adults alike regarding the actual usefulness of university and college degrees.

Zakiya and I chatted mostly about academics versus skill sets, and how she has infused her own skills into opportunities, both business and personal.

Zakiya is a former professor, and currently works as a consultant and coach, sharing her own career development and knowledge of higher education with students in colleges and universities in order to help students succeed in building skill sets alongside their academic journeys.
